Measure the furniture and the access route

Check doorways, hallways, lift doors and stair turns. For a sofa, include its full length and depth; for a tall cabinet, include the height. If a piece appears too large for the usual route, discuss that before booking rather than relying on an improvised solution on moving day.

Prepare drawers, loose shelves and delicate surfaces

Empty drawers and remove loose contents so they can be packed separately. Identify glass panels, polished finishes and removable shelves. Ask which protection and dismantling tasks the team will provide, and keep fittings together in labelled bags when you prepare items yourself.
